Treatment Approach
The first consultation involves a detailed assessment of the patient’s condition. Past and current medical history, family, lifestyle, diet and mental and emotional factors are all part of the evaluation. The acupuncturist uses traditional diagnostic skills. This includes tongue and pulse diagnosis. This allows the practitioner to see and feel energy imbalance in the body. Since each person is unique the number of treatments required will vary. Among the determining factors are the following:
· The nature of the complaint – whether it is chronic or acute.
· The general state of health and wellbeing of the patient.
The acupuncturist will discuss the treatment programme with the patient. All acupuncture needles are single use, pre-sterilised, disposable needles. The use of acupuncture and TCM in the hands of fully qualified practitioners is safe and free of any harmful side-effects.
